Last spring, I had to get my boat off its trailer to do a thorough job of scraping, sanding, and repainting the bottom. In this case, a pair of low, long, and very strong sawhorses provided comfortable access at a reasonable and safe working height. I made them of 2x6s, with a 5-long horizontal top backed underneath by a centerline vertical longitudinal. The legs are let into mortises in the top, and the crosspieces are let into mortises in the legs.
