摘要

Design and Engineering is a joint programme run by two leading Estonian educational institutions, the Tallinn University of Technology and the Estonian Academy of Arts. The programme was established in 2010 to bring together students from different backgrounds to study and practice a design-led approach to development. The need for such an interdisciplinary approach arose from the fact that students from different fields would not meet during their university courses, but then would need to work together and communicate in their workplaces. We believe that technological competence needs to be combined with a deep understanding of users, the social and cultural context of use, and the utilisation of design in the creation of meaningful, pleasing and sustainable solutions.
