Available published data and our findings indicate that low-intensity laser radiation can have a stimulatory effect on various physiological processes in plants, including those that lack noticeable correlation. For example, the lack of correlation between the rate of plant regeneration and callus formation in certain genotypes apparently suggests the absence of correlation between the genetic determinants of these two characteristics [1]. We hypothesized that, under exposure of plant tissues to laser radiation, a nonspecific mechanism common for many processes should be triggered.
