(Washington, Dc)—The leaders of PBS, the Assn. of Public TV Stations (APTS) and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) have come together to plot their future under the newly formed Digital Future Initiative, headed by former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt and ex-Netscape CEO Jim Barksdale. At their inaugural public meeting, the group—which had called itself the Enhanced Funding Initiative—spoke to a cadre of policymakers, reporters and think-tank analysts Dec. 15 at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). With funding from the MacArthur Foundation, over the next three to six months PBS hopes to construct its business model for the digital age.
