In my position, my normal day-today activities range from performing aircraft maintenance inspections to offering new and recurrent training to personnel and performing on-the-job training assessments of trainees. I am also in constant communication with our training coordinator to ensure that training programs are implemented properly. After high school, I went to one of our local universities, Universidad Interamericana Metro Campus for Aviation Management. Then I went to an aviation maintenance course at a vocational school, and was then able to get certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. While I was at the vocational school, my first aviation job was working for American Airlines, where I spent most of my career. I was probably 6-8 years old when I started visiting our main San Juan International Airport to pick up family members visiting us during summer. There was an open balcony at the airport where you could easily see airplanes taking off and landing. I clearly remember watching those American Airlines Boeing 747s coming from New York and I simply fell in love with them. I dreamed about being a pilot, but couldn't reach that goal. However, I'm more than satisfied with my 30-year career as a Maintenance Technician.
