EFFECTS OF RHIZOBIUM LEGUMINOSARUM WHEY POWDERAND NITROGENOUS FERTILIZER TREATMENTS ON NODULATION AND?YIELD COMPONENTS OF FORAGE PEA

This study was conducted under field condi-tions to determine the effects of Rhizobium legumi-nosarum, whey powder and nitrogenous fertilizer treatments on nodulation and vield components of forage pea(Pisum sativum L.).Experiments were conducted in randomized blocks-split plots experi-mental design with 3 replications. Experimental treatments included control (without any treatments), Rhizobium leguminosarum(R),whey powder(WP)and nitrogenous fertilizer (N)treatments. Rhizobium leguminosarum-inoculation increased total number of nodules; Rhizobium leguminosarum-inoculation, whey powder treatments and combined treatment of nitrogenous fertilizer and bacteria inoculation signif-icantly increased nodule weights. The greatest num-ber of pods was obtained from single nitrogenous fertilizer treatments, combined treatment of bacteria and whey powder and combined treatment nitroge-nous fertilizer and whey powder. The greatest grain yield was obtained from combined treatment of ni-trogenous fertilizer and whey powder followed re-spectively by combined treatment of bacteria inocu-lation and whey powder and combined treatment of nitrogenous fertilizer and bacteria inoculation.
