摘要

The woody flora of the university city “Antonio Borjas Romero” of the University of Zulia was determined. Twelve biweekly samples (November 2015 - April 2016) were performed, botanical samples were collected and taxonomically identified. Eighty-two species were determined, 37 families, highlighting those with the highest number of species: Caesalpiniaceae (9) and Mimosaceae (9). Secondary communities were found: relics of xerophytic species ( Caesalpinia coriaria , Prosopis juliflora and Vachellia tortuosa ), monospecific areas planted with Peltophorum pterocarpum , secondary savannas with invasive species ( Azadirachta indica and Calotropis procera ), formations with deciduous elements ( Caesalpinia granadillo and Pithecellobium dulce ) and species adjacent to packed ravines ( Enterolobium cyclocarpum , Leucaena leucocephala and Ricinus communis ). Also highlighted ornamental species planted in the green areas of the buildings. The woody flora of the university city did not differ substantially from the previous registry, however the wide spread of the invasive A. indica on the university campus of the University of Zulia is of concern.
