Cimex lectularius L., Hemiptera: Cimicidae (bedbug) is a hematophagous ectoparasite that feeds mainly on humans, causing hives by the injected saliva. Little is known about its presence in many countries. In Venezuela , there are only two cases until 2001 (State Miranda and the Federal District). This note reports the presence of C. lectularius for the first time in the city of Maracaibo from a case of 2015. Two houses were inspected after denouncing of dermatological manifestations. Mattresses, pillows, bag and other sites of the room were inspected The collected material was deposited at the Museum of arthropods of LUZ, In recent years it has been reported an increase in infestations of this insect around the world, showing the importance of an early detection of this insect in Venezuela.
