摘要

A broad range of microorganisms are involved in various mango plant diseases such as fungi, algae and bacteria. In orderto study the role of bacteria in mango dieback, a survey of infected mango plants in southern Pakistan was carried out. Anumber of bacterial isolates were obtained from healthy looking and infected mango trees, and their characterization wasundertaken by colony PCR and subsequent sequence analysis of 16S rDNA. These analyses revealed the presence of variousgenera including Acinetobacter, Bacillus, Burkholderia, Cronobacter, Curtobacterium, Enterobacter, Erwinia,Exiguobacterium, Halotelea, Lysinibacillus, Micrococcus, Microbacterium, Pantoea, Pseudomonas, Salmonella andStaphylococcus. It is noteworthy that several members of these genera have been reported as plant pathogens. The present studyprovided baseline information regarding the phytopathogenic bacteria associated with mango trees in southern Pakistan.
