I thank the author for the letter “Moderate tosevere ischemic mitral regurgitation: More datato guide the choice. Why not consider the useof subvalvular repair?” [1]. As presented in theoriginal article “Long-term outcomes of mitralvalve annuloplasty versus subvalvular sparingreplacement for severe ischemic mitral regurgitation” [2], ring annuloplasty (RA) was performedwithout subvalvular repair, which was in accordingwith the practice guidelines [3]. In addition, it wasfound that compared with the mitral valve replacement group, the incidence of mitral regurgitationrecurrence was significantly higher in the RA group(p 0.001) [3].
