Economic cost of underinvestment in US water laid bare in new analysis

Anew report published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Value of Water Campaign suggests that investment in water and wastewater infrastructure in the US needs to triple from current levels if the country is to avoid serious drags on its economic output. The report suggests that sustaining current levels of water and wastewater infrastructure investment - which amounted to $48 billion in 2019 - would result in an increased frequency in service disruptions such as water outages and street flooding.
