Jamaica welcomes private desal proposals

The Jamaican government has outlined its ambitions to attract private sector participation in order to diversify its water supply portfolio in the face of more frequent drought conditions. Pearnel Charles Jr, the country's minister responsible for housing and water, revealed to GWI this month that the country is accepting unsolicited proposals from international counterparties for technological solutions such as desalination that can provide a supplementary water supply.
