Theenhancertraptechnique,establishedinemDrosophilamelanogaster/em,isaverysophisticatedtool.Despiteitsusefulness,however,therehavebeenveryfewreportsonenhancertrapsinotheranimals.TheascidianemCionaintestinalis/em,asplendidexperimentalsystemfordevelopmentalbiology,providesgoodmaterialfordevelopmentalgenetics.Recently,germlinetransgenesisofemC.intestinalis/emhasbeenachievedusingtheTc1/emmariner/emsuperfamilytransposonemMinos/em.Duringthecourseofthatstudy,oneemMinos/eminsertionlinethatshowedadifferentGFPexpressionpatternfromotherlineswasisolated.Onefascinatingpossibilityisthatanenhancertrapeventoccurredinthisline.HereweshowthataemMinos/eminsertionintheemCi-Musashi/emgenewasresponsibleforthealteredGFPexpression.emCi-Musashi/emshowedasimilarexpressionpatterntoGFP.Inaddition,intronsofemCi-Musashi/emhaveenhanceractivitythatcanaltertheexpressionpatternofnearbygenestoresemblethatofGFPinthisline.TheseresultsclearlydemonstratethatanenhancertrapeventthatentrappedenhancersofemCi-Musashi/emoccurredinemC.intestinalis/em./p/div
