Language Dissociations across Grammatical Components in Bilingual Aphasia: The case of a Spanish-Basque Chronic Aphasic

Research on bilingual aphasia has contributed notably to the knowledge of how grammatical components arerepresented and processed in the monolingual as well as in the bilingual brain (Abutalebi & Green, 2007; Alario et al.2010; Biran & Friedmann, 2005; Grodzinsky, 2000). Assuming that the typological distance between the languagesavailable to the bilingual may play an important role in the organization of the languages, the present study reportson the lexical, phonological and morphosyntactic performance of a Spanish-Basque chronic aphasic bilingual. Theassessment of her impairment at the levels mentioned will shed light on the question of at what extent the twolanguages may share representation in the bilingual mind.
