ABSTRACT Marine Pseudomonas aeruginosa OSh1 was isolated from El-Mex station, Alexandria, Egypt and identified by 16S rDNA gene sequencing. The characteristic feature of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the production of soluble blue pigment (pyocyanin) as a secondary metabolite. Production and characterization of pyocyanin were studied to evaluate its antimicrobial potential against pathogenic strains. Considerable amounts of blue pigment were produced by P. aeruginosa OSh1 when grown on the four tes.
