ABSTRACT Upper gastrointestinal bleeding or haemorrhage[UGIB/UGIH} constitutes about 0.5% of all the cases of surgical and medical indoor admissions in the hospitals all over the world.The incidence is highest between the age group of 31 to 70 years with male preponderance in all the age groups. This study was undertaken to study in detail focussing the etipathogenesis, pathology, complications, investigation, treatment and complications of UGIB.
