The practice of A(H1N1) preventive measures in Malaysia during pandemic wave

Background: The World Health Organization on 11th June 2009, declared the outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1) as a pandemic. In February 2010, at least 16,455 deaths due to H1N1 were reported in 213 countries. Interestingly in Malaysia with the first pandemic case of H1N1 being reported in May 2009, the media began highlighting the threat to the public. On 25th Sept 2010, 92 deaths were reported due to H1N1.Therefore, the Ministry of Health has introduced mitigation strategy aiming to reduce the spread of this disease.
