PENGARUH MOTIVASI TERHADAP NILAI BAHASA INGGRIS II MAHASISWA SEMESTER GENAP 2011/2012 STMIK PROVISI SEMARANG

English has been a global language nowadays - widely used?? all over the world and learned in almost all disciplines. In Indonesia, English acts as a foreign language, a language learned as a subject in both formal and non formal institutions. STMIK ProVisi is a School of Management and Informatics where English is given in four semesters. Since English is not used in daily conversation, it is important for students to have motivation in learning English. There are four types of motivations : instrumental/external, integrative, resultatif, and instrinsic. Among those four types of motivation, instrinsic motivation is the motivation that plays important roles in improving someonea€?s achievement. This is due to the fact that intrinsic motivation emerges from the need of?? oneself to learn something. Based on the questionnaires distributed to 30 STMIK ProVisi Students taking English II Course at second semester 2011/2012 which was later correlated to Mid Test Scores. The questionnaires reveals that motivation that encouraged them to learn English was instrumental/intrinsic motivation a€“ the types of motivation which is driven by external factor such as obtaining good scores instead of the need to master the course itself.
