SixdifferentnewKluyveromyceslactisstrainswereisolatedfromdifferentdairyproductsfromBursaprovince,Turkey.LactaseandinvertaseenzymeactivitiesofnewK.lactisstrainsweredeterminedunderdifferentgrowthconditions.OurresultsindicatethatbothlactaseandinvertaseenzymeactivitiesofnewK.lactisstrainsaremuchhigherthanthestandardK.lactis(ATCC8585).LactaseandinvertaseenzymesareexpressedathighlevelsunderglucoserepressedgrowthconditionsinsomeoftheseK.lactisstrains.InvertaseactivitiesofnewK.lactisstrainsare10-foldhigherthanthestandardK.lactis(ATCC8585)strain.Additionally,itwasshownthatthetwoofthenewK.lactisstrainshave25%shorterduplicationtimesthanthenormalK.lactis(ATCC8585).OurresultsindicatethatnewK.lactisstrainsisolatedfromthelocaldairyproductsoftheBursaregionofTurkeyhavedistinctmetabolicfeatureswithrespecttotheregulationofGAL/LACregulonofK.lactis.
