A control system based on a combination of the gain-schedulingcontrol method and an adaptive PID controller was designed forthe production of xylose from hardwood hemicellulose using astirring tank reactor. Different operating conditions have beenconsidered for estimating the adjustable parameter (θ) to take intoaccount the changes of energy of the system. The performance ofthe control system was studied first by numerical simulation, andafter implementation in the stirred tank reactor where the controlleractually works.
