Positive blood cultures in a patient recovering from febrile neutropenia

A 44-year-old male returned from Indiawhere he was hospitalized and diagnosedwith Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis(HLH). He had been initiated ondexamethasone followed by a prednisonetaper. On return to Canada, he presentedwith non-productive cough, fevers andpancytopenia and was admitted to theIntensive Care Unit (ICU) with sepsis. Heunderwent a bone marrow biopsy and thediagnosis of intravascular large B celllymphoma with secondary HLH was made.
