An Uncommon Cause of Asymptomatic Primary Hyperparathyroidism

Parathyroid cysts have absent uptake on radioiodine thyroid scans and rarely are positive on sestamibi parathyroid scans (5). Ultrasound, computed tomogra- phy, and magnetic resonance imaging show a cystic cer- vical or mediastinal mass (5). Aspiration of a function- ing parathyroid cyst can be both diagnostic and therapeutic.
