Remarkable Cystic Expansion of Microprolactinoma Causing Diabetes Insipidus during Pregnancy

This is an exceptional case of microprolactinoma with remarkable growth during pregnancy (1-3). Because sur- gical intervention was successful and diabetes insipidus was ameliorated, we speculate that the marked tumor en- largement compressed and impaired neurohypophyseal function (4). Tumor expansion toward the pituitary stalk might have caused diabetes insipidus without a visual field defect. Furthermore, aminopeptidase (vasopressinase) re- leased from the placenta, which could increase AVP met- abolic clearance, was an additional cause of transient di- abetes insipidus during pregnancy (5).
