Response to Letter: “Calcium and Bone Turnover Markers in Acromegaly: A Prospective, Controlled Study”

We thank Liu et al. for their interest in our publication titled “Calcium and bone turnover markers in acromegaly: a prospective controlled study” (1). Overall, our study had three objectives: (1) to determine the impact of active acromegaly on calcium and bone markers, (2) to clarify the etiology of calcium and bone metabolism perturbations, and (3) to evaluate the effect of acromegaly treatment on calcium and bone metabolism. To achieve these objectives, we compared patients with acromegaly with a control group of patients with nonfunctioning macroadenomas (1).
