Disease free survival in paediatric malignant disorders with cost effective care after haploidentical stem cell transplantation with post-transplant cyclophosphamide: a single centre experience from south India

A retrospective analysis was conducted from 2013 to July 2018.All children who underwent autologous hematopoietic progenitor stemcell transplantation were included. Demographic data, treatment detailsand clinical outcome of patients were investigated.RESULTS: Fifty one children with median age of 67months (range 16-204)at the time of transplant underwent autologous stem cell transplant. Total101 autologous transplants were done. Eighteen childrenwith brain tumorand 1 child with neuroblastoma received tandem transplant (4/3/2 cycles).Median infused CD34 cell dose was 8.23 X 106 /kg (1.9-93.6X10 6 /kg) andmedian mononuclear cell count was 6.36 X 108/kg (0.4-28.4X 10 8 /kg).Haematological recovery in the form of both neutrophil and plateletengraftment happened at a median of 10 days (6-27days). Overall survivaland two years progression free survival rates are 68.6% and 61.5% respec-tively. Overall survival for brain tumor group, neuroblastoma group andlymphoma group were 72.2%, 75% and 76% respectively. Three transplantrelated mortalities were documented in our study.
