Supportive care for patients with gynaecological cancer

Close to 100000 new cases of invasive gynaecological malignancy are diagnosed each year, both in the United States and Western Europe, and account for about 30 000 deaths in either of these two geographical areas.1,2 Although many women will be cured eventually, most will require many months or years of treatment with major physical and psychological consequences, leading to substantial reduction in their quality of life (QOL).
