Youth Employment Poolicies in Europe. Analysis of Priorities and Strategies

In recent years, as a result of the economic crisis, the transition of young people from the education system to the labor market has been compromised, due to the slowdown experienced in the absence of employment demand, by the business community and the public sector. In this regard, in order to facilitate this transition, the socio-political scenario has led to the promotion of new guidelines and priorities of attention to youth employment in the countries of the eurozone. In this paper the state in which youth employment is in Europe following a socio-historical review of the process and the policies that have been pursued in recent years in response to unemployment, poverty and inequalities is analyzed. Also, the impact of investment in education based on the competence approach that has been developed in Europe as a strategy to improve vocational training and labor market access is examined. Finally, the initiative of opportunities for youth arisen from the Growth Strategy 2020 is presented.
