Ameloblastoma is an epithelial odontogenic tumor of the jawsand exhibits diverse microscopic patterns. Granular cell ameloblastomais a rare variant of ameloblastoma, making up to 3.5%of all ameloblastomas. The granular change is thought to bea dysfunctional status of neoplastic cells leading to degenerativechanges in long standing lesions. The pathogenesis of thistumor seems to be related to lysosome like organelles seenas eosinophilic granules in the cytoplasm. The granular cellameloblastoma, in most instances is found as an admixturewith other histologic patterns, particularly follicular subtype. Thisreport describes an unusual case of granular cell ameloblastomaalong with a review of literature.
