OIE Regional Representation for Africa Dr Karim Tounkara Dr Karim Tounkara was born in Bamako, Mali. He graduated as a DVM from the Moscow Veterinary Academy (Former Soviet Union) in 1978, and obtained a PhD in microbiology in 1982. He also obtained certi?cates in epidemiology, virology, serology and molecular biology from the University of Reading (United Kingdom), Washington State University (United States of America) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
