ISSN 1517-8692.? http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/1517-869220152105144855.Introduccion:The increase in the number of adolescents attending indoor soccer training programs has been markedly observed as an alternative for sports practice. Physical fitness and the hydration profile in indoor soccer adolescents athletes are rare in scientific literature.Objective:To determine the body composition and metabolic characteristics in male adolescents attending indoor soccer training program, making a relation among them and the game position.Methods:We evaluated 10 male adolescent aged 12 to 13 years, with sexual maturational level of 3.7 ± 0.7 for pubic hair, and 3.6 ± 1.0 for external genital development. The adolescents were submitted to an-thropometric measurement (weight, height and body composition), neuromotor test (vertical and horizontal thrust and shuttle run test) and metabolic demand (distance covered, energy expenditure, number of steps and hydration variation).Results:The results were analyzed by the 4 game positions (goalkeepers, full-backs, wing backs and centre--forwards) using the ANOVA One Way and post-hoc Scheffé's variation analysis, with an accuracy margin of 5%. Data showed that goalkeepers presented higher percentage of body fat than other game positions, with no differences among them. The lean body mass showed a inverse trend, with lower muscular values for goalkeepers than in field positions, and higher values for wing backs and centre-forwards than full-backs. Goalkeepers presented lower me-tabolic demand taking into account the intensity analyzed during the games, compared to other game positions, corroborating with other similar studies. For all groups, ad libitum water intake was sufficient to maintain the state of rehydration.Conclusion:We can, thus, conclude that there are differences in metabolic demand according to the game positions, suggesting a specific training prescription aiming at avoiding over or under stimuli for adolescents.
