ThisstudywasdoneincentralTanzaniatoevaluategrowthperformanceofparental,F1,F2andbackcrossesofBroiler(BB)andBlackAustralorp(AA)stocks.Theparentalstocks(BBandAA)andtheF1whichperformedbetterinphaseoneofthestudy(i.e.SinglecrossbetweenBlackAustralorpandbroiler,ABanditsreciprocal,BA)wereusedinthecrossingtoproduce11geneticstockstotaling396birds.Birdswerefedonnutritionallybalanceddietstomeettheirrequirementsasperageandphysiologicalstage.Bodyweightsatdayold,4,8,12weeksofageandbodyweightatsexualmaturity(BWSM)aswellaslivabilityfromdayoldto12weekswereevaluated.Thedataongrowthtraitswererecordedonindividualbirdbasisandanalyzedusinggenerallinearmodels,whilefrequencywasusedforlivabilityanalysis.nbsp;Geneticstocksdifferedinbodyweightatdifferentweighingperiodsinbothmalesandfemales.Thebroilerparentalstocks(BB)wereheavierthanallothergeneticstocksatallstagesofgrowthandsexexceptathatchinginfemales.Fromfourthto12weeksofage,thegeneticstockswith75%broilerand25%BlackAustralorp(?A?B)inheritancewereheavierthanthegeneticstockswith75%BlackAustralorpand25%broiler(?A?B).Thegeneticstockswith75%broilerand25%BlackAustralorp(?A?B)inheritancewerealsoheavierthanothercrossesinbodyweightatsexualmaturity.Therewerenodifferencesamonggeneticstockswithrespecttolivabilityinbothsexes.ItisconcludedthatthebackcrossesofbroilerperformedbetterthanthebackcrossesofBlackAustralorp,F1andF2withregardtobodyweightatdifferentstagesofgrowthincludingbodyweightatsexualmaturityaswellaslivability.
