Theobjectiveofthisstudywastodeterminetheeffectofspinelesscactusincorporationonmilkproductionfromlocalgoatsandkid#8217;sgrowth.FourtyfivefemalesofthelocalTunisianbreedwereusedintheexperiment.Animalsweredividedintothreehomogeneousgroupsof15animalseach.nbsp;Goatsforcontrolgroupwererearedongrazingpastureandreceivedindoor0.5kgofoathayand0.4kgofconcentrate.Goatsforthesecond(Cac-CC)groupwerekeptinfeedlotandfedspinelesscactusadlibitum,theyreceivedasthecontrolgroup0.5kgofthesamehayand0.4kgofthesameconcentrate.Thelastgroup(Cac-TS)wasalsokeptindoorandfedspinelesscactusatlibitummore0.5kgofthesamehayand0.2kgofsoybeanmeal.nbsp;Theresultsfromthisexperimentshowedthatfeedingsystemaffectedgrowthkids,averagedailygainduringthefirstmonthwas64vs.32g/dforgrazingandCac-CCkids,respectively..Thedailymilkproductionaveraged485and407mlforcontrolgroupandforonesreceivingspinelesscactus(Cac-CCandCac-TS)withoutsignificantdifferences.Theproteincontentwasnotaffectedbyfeedingsystem,itaveraged2.7%,whilefatcontentwassignificantly(Pr0.01)differentbetweenexperimentalgroups,3.9,nbsp;3.7and3.1%forcontrol,Cac-TSandCac-CCgroup,respectively.
