Survey on mastitis risk factors in dairy cattle farms in Eastern Algeria

Mastitisisamultifactorialdiseasefoundwithgreatfrequencyindairycattle.Ourstudywasbasedontheidentification,evaluationandassessmentofriskfactorsspecifictodairyfarmsintheeasternregionofAlgeria.Todoso,50dairycattlefarmswerewerestudied.Theresults,treatedstatisticallybytheadjustedlogisticmodel,haveidentifiedagroupofvariablesthatexplainstosomeextenttheelevatedcellcountsofbulkmilk.Thelevelofsignificanceofthemodelwassetat0.15.Thevariablesselectedbythefinallogisticmodelaffectingmainlybyorderofsignificance(oddsratioinparentheses):thetypeoftreatment(10.31),theamountofbedding(7.22),thetypeofdrainage(3,17)andbreedofcow(2.90).Thisstudyofriskfactorsisanimportantstepinthedevelopmentofaprophylacticplanwhichisessentialforestablishingcontrolprogramsformilkproductionandmarketing.
