Estimates of genetic parameters for Test-day using a random regression model for first lactations of buffalo in Colombia North Coast

Atotalof5575monthlytest-dayyieldrecordsfrom796lactationsbuffaloesfirstinthenorthcoastofColombia.Themodelincludedrandomdirectadditivegeneticandpermanentenvironmenteffects.Asfixedeffectswereincluded,contemporarygroups,andageofcowatcalvingascovaraible,linearandquadraticeffects.nbsp;nbsp;Test-day(PLDC)yieldwas3.89±1.14kg.ThePLDCrangedfrom2.86kgto4.26kgwhilethehighestvaluestowardsthemiddleoflactation.TheheritabilityestimatesobtainedforPLDCrangedfrom0.23to0.47.GeneticcorrelationsbetweenPLDC,decliningsteadilyincreasedthedistancebetweenPLDC.PhenotypicvarianceswerehigherintheinitialPLDCanddecreasingtowardstheendoflactation.nbsp;TheresultsfoundinthisstudyindicatethatthereisahighgeneticvariabilityforthePLDCinthepopulationstudiedusingarandomregressionmodel.
