Aninvitrogasproductiontechniquewasusedtostudytheeffectofjojobamealongasproduction,rumenfermentation,truedryandorganicmatterdigestibility,theactivityofamylaseandcarboxymethylcellulase(CMCase)andprotozoacount.Jojobamealwasaddedtoaconcentratedietat6%,9%and18%levels,substitutingforcottonseedmeal.AgasproductiontechniquewasperformedusingrumenfluidcollectedfromthreefistulatedSantaInessheep.Cumulativegasproductionwasrecordedat3,6,9,12,24,48,72and96hofincubationtime.Kineticsofgasproductionwasfittedtoanexponentialmodel.Volatilefattyacids(VFA),Ammonia-N(NH3-N)concentrations,truedryandorganicmatterdegradabilityandenzymeactivity(CMCaseandamylase)weredeterminedat24hofincubationtime.nbsp;Thecumulativevolumeofgasproductionwasincreasedbyaddingjojobameal.Totalgasproducedat96hofincubationtimewashigherforthefirstlevelofjojobameal.Thevaluesofiso-butyrate,butyrateandiso-valerateweresignificantlydecreasedforcontrolsamplecomparedtothethirdlevelofjojobameal.Nosignificanteffectsofjojobamealonacetate,propionateandvalerateconcentrationwereseen.Also,nosignificanteffectswereobservedonCH4,NH3-Nlevelsortruedryandorganicmatterdegradabilityat24hofincubationtime.pHvaluewassignificantlydecreasedatnbsp;thethirdlevelofjojoba.Nosignificanteffectsofjojobamealwereobservedonthespecificactivityofamylaseinthesupernatantofsonicatedbottlecontents,whilethespecificactivityofCMCasewassignificantlydecreased.Thelowestprotozoacountwasatthethirdlevelofjojobameal.
