Changes in intramammary pressure and distribution of milk in the udder due to withdrawal at varying intervals after establishment of the milk ejection response

Abstract Changes in distribution of milk in the cow's udder modify the shape of the milk withdrawal curve during machine milking. The influence of different periods of delay between pre-milking stimulus and the start of milking, and the effect on the "pressure-volume" relationship in the milk cistern, are discussed.
