The equipment for automatic milking of an animal involves a milking cup (1) with a pulsation chamber (3) connected to a teat of an animal, the creation of a vacuum in the cup under the teat and the establishment of a varying pulsation vacuum in the pulsation chamber, whereby the pulsation vacuum can achieve a maximum vacuum. During the milking process, measurement (6) is made from an udder area of the milking vacuum under the teat in the milking cup. The auxiliary pulsation vacuum is thus regulated so that the maximum pulsation vacuum value is equal to or a fixed value less than the measured milking vacuum.
