Profile characteristics of farm women in relation to their listening behaviour of krishi community radio programmes*

The research study conducted in Dharwad district during 2010-11, involving 120 farm families from selected eight?villages, revealed that 38.83, 35.00 and 26.67 per cent of the respondents had medium, low and high level of listening?behaviour, respectively. Among the variables under study, land holding, annual income, extension participation, social?participation, material possession, media utilization, and media participation were found to be positively and significantly?correlated with listening behaviour of farm women while family occupation of the respondents was negatively correlated.?Forty four per cent of the variation in listening behaviour was due to media participation. Media participation and material?possession contributed for 54.60 per cent variation, media participation, material possession and extension participation together contributed for 60.30 per cent of variation. Finally, all the three aforesaid variables and the media utilization together?contributed 61.7 per cent of variation in listening behaviour.
