The study was aimed at evaluating apoptotic potential of Br-oxph (4-bromoN,N-diethyl-5,5-dimethyl-2,5-dihydro-1,2-oxaphosphol-2-amine 2-oxide) in vitro. The dose response effect of Br-oxph (dose range 1-3 mg/ml, for 48 h) on SK-MES-1 cells viability was determined by means of WST-1 cell proliferation assay. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (?С50) value was determined - 1.8 mg/ml. The ability of the compound tested to induce apoptosis was tested by ELISA to detect cellular DNA fragmentation. We provided a quantitative assessment of the apoptotic potential of Br-oxph in human lung carcinoma cells at concentrations corresponding to ?С50 and 2х?С50 for 3 hours. Treatment with 2х?С50 significantly increased the amount of cytoplasmic DNA-fragments. Results obtained from the present study confirm that Br-oxph target the cancerous cells towards apoptosis.
