Composition and methods of screening for WRN modulator and WRN-binding agent, cancer treatment and reduction of side effects, induction and inhibition of apoptosis and cell senescence, promotion and inhibition of tanning, cell differentiation and its inhibition, immunosuppression and growth promotion. The use of WRN modulators is described. WRN activators can be used to induce growth retention, proliferative senescence or apoptosis. WRN modulator identification methods are also described.
