A guideline should always be seen as an educationaldevice. Guidelines are prepared by a panel of experts onthe field based on a critical review of the quality of availableevidence. Guidelines are used to assist endoscopistswhile providing the standard of care to patients andshould not be used as a rule. However, the question remains:are all guidelines useful or equivalent in quality?
