Numerous factors and barriers remain a challenge for high risk workers. Programs that currently exist target selfsufficiency, yet there remains an unemployment rate that is reflective of the need to eliminate cyclical joblessness. Maintaining meaningful employment is the goal for high risk workers as well as mentoring, guidance, and prolonged engagement. Counselors are needed to promote engagement in positive employment training and life-long career development. This manuscript describes a job training program focused on assisting clients in gaining long term employment using a modified version of the Stages of Change as a theoretical framework.
