Entre concep??es e políticas: uma análise sobre a contribui??o da política CT&I para o desenvolvimento sustentável brasileiro

The article first examines the emergence of the concept of sustainable development and its variations. Following, it evaluates the importance of policies aimed at the issue, such as science, technology and innovation (STI), as well as education. Sustainability is currently focused in analyses of the role of STI in the pursuit of development. Economic theories and international experiences note that the role of innovation in the production process, when coming from good qualification, contributes to sustained and sustainable development of a country. Following international trends and new paradigms, the study presents the Science without Borders Program, as part of the current set of actions in STI. With a brief analysis on the feasibility and challenges for achieving that governmental action, the study indicates some institutional mechanisms that should be observed for the effectiveness of the program.
