The Emerging Indo-Pacific Quad Has Shadow Alliances Around It

The emerging "Quadripartite Alliance" between the US, Japan, Australia, and India - postulated to create a containment bloc of states concerned about the rise of power projection by the People's Republic of China (PRC) - falls far short of most definitions of a strategic security alliance. It is not, and may never be, "an Indo-Pacific NATO". And its geostrategic space is also pierced by shadows of other bilateral and multilateral regional links, not to mention concerns.
