POGO Analysis Points to Possible Unavailability of 63 Percent of A-10s by 2023

A new analysis by the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) points to the possibleunavailability of 63 percent of the U.S. Air Force's A-10 fleet for deployments in 2023 becauseof parts shortages.The Air Force has requested the retirement of 42 A-10s in fiscal 2022 as a first step to downsizethe fleet of close air support planes from 281 to 218 to free up funds to devote to research anddevelopment for future needs.
