Recent months have highlighted that there are challenges faced by the MoD and other defence ministries in the need for effective security in information and communications infrastructure.rnElectronic information is being increasingly used for many applications, ranging from ISTAR to human resources to the basic functioning of advancing equipment. Very recent news also points to the expansion of online facilities on-board Royal Navy vessels to give the MoD's 'maritime customers' facing communication problems priority access to engineering services. Here, an online facility launched last year to give sailors instant access to equipment information has been expanded to the Royal Navy Taurus 09 fleet. It is reported that this will allow crew access to technical information on issues such as repairs and spares status, as well as obsolescence reports and task history sheets.
