While much attention has focused on new protected vehicle design, only recently has attention shifted to the importance of safe seating design and its role in protecting soldiers. Numerous deaths in both Iraq and Afghanistan have provided a powerful emotional incentive to both military and industry to take steps to alleviate this problem.
