As an emerging democracy after fifteen years of pseudo democracy, Bangladesh has been facing a number of problems. Of all these problems the continuous political confrontation on ideological stand divided the nation and has created enough space for ultra religious forces to rise. The unfortunate division allowed politics to be criminalised, introduced muscle and money and endemic corruption. Despite all these drawbacks the people of Bangladesh did not lose faith in pluralism and democracy. People at large have rejected militancy which resulted in a quick arrest of the situation.
