In 2003, the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) affirmed that higher-order thinking skills are an important outcome of business education (AACSB, 2003). Nevertheless, the literature on teaching higher-order thinking in the business education field is rather thin. Generally, three higher-order thinking paradigms are particularly relevant to business education: critical thinking, design thinking, and systems thinking (Wang & Wang, 2009). While recognizing the fact that the three thinking paradigms are often blended in business problem solving, this note focuses on teaching design thinking.
