Judgement in Paris

The annual Concours General Agricole, the competition for the best French food and drink, is part of the Paris Salon d'Agriculture. The Salon attracted over 600,000 visitors, including families, during its two weeks in March. This year the importance of rural life prompted visits from all French presidential candidates who patted the cows, ate the cheese and drank the local brews. Milk was prominent, with interactive games and tasting for children at the CIDIL (Interprofessional Milk Information Centre) stand, recipes and cookery demonstrations for adults, using milk and regional cheeses.
